In 2003 the provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island established a resident driven recruitment strategy called the Maritime Physician Recruitment Initiative (MPRI). The primary focus of MPRI is to enhance and assist in the recruitment and retention of Maritime trained physicians for Maritime communities. And maintain the International Medical Graduates who decide to come to this area.

This project allows for a confidential means for residents and communities to interact with each other. The end goal is of increasing the number of physicians in the Maritimes and facilitating the employment process for residents. It is an opportunity for communities to reach out to residents while they are still in training. The purpose is to help forge relationships that will allow for serious consideration of long term employment options. And do this with the personal satisfaction of physicians living in communities, towns and cites in the Maritime provinces. Click here…
